Ideally grow in large pots or place a barrier around your desired hedge to form a dense fast screen upto 5-6m within a few years. 
 
This specific bamboo has very large leaves, some of the largest in the world! It's also common to find bamboo canes for growing made from this bamboo 
 
Doesn't mind any soil type or sun light, will grow almost anywhere provided it has water in dry spells.
