Washingtonia palms are fan-leaved palms native to the Southwestern U.S. and northwest Mexico, widely cultivated for their striking appearance. The trunk is rough an fiberous and as it grows older will become smooth.
 
They make a perfect addition in any UK garden and most commonly used as ornamental trees in borders on patios in gardens. 
 
These palms can grow over 8ft tall over time if cared for and watered moderately. Full sun is essential for these trees and also using a well draining soil is important for its growth.
 
They are very hardy trees and can tolerate very cold temperatures to -15c.
